Discover the ultimate Slow Cooker Chicken Philly Sandwiches recipe with tender chicken, melty cheese, and savory veggies. Perfect for any occasion!

Ingredients

  • Chicken: 3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (approximately 1.5 pounds).
  • Bell Peppers: 1 green, 1 red, and 1 yellow bell pepper, thinly sliced.
  • Onion: 1 large onion, thinly sliced.
  • Garlic: 2 cloves, minced.
  • Chicken Broth: ½ cup to keep the chicken moist and flavorful.
  • Worcestershire Sauce: 1 tablespoon for added depth of flavor.
  • Italian Seasoning: 1 teaspoon.
  • Salt and Pepper: To taste.
  • Provolone Cheese: 6-8 slices.
  • Hoagie Rolls: 6 soft rolls, lightly toasted.
  • Butter or Olive Oil: Optional, for sautéing vegetables before adding to the slow cooker.

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Slow Cooker: Lightly grease the slow cooker to prevent sticking.

  2. Layer the Ingredients: Place the chicken breasts at the bottom of the slow cooker. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Add the sliced bell peppers, onions, and garlic on top. Pour in the chicken broth and Worcestershire sauce.

  3. Cook: Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6-7 hours or on high for 3-4 hours. The chicken should be tender and easy to shred.

  4. Shred the Chicken: Remove the cooked chicken from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded chicken to the slow cooker and mix it with the vegetables and juices.

  5. Assemble the Sandwiches: Preheat your oven’s broiler. Place hoagie rolls on a baking sheet. Fill each roll with the chicken and vegetable mixture, then top with a slice of provolone cheese.

  6. Melt the Cheese: Place the sandwiches under the broiler for 1-2 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Be careful not to burn the bread.

  7. Serve: Remove from the oven and serve immediately. Enjoy with chips, a salad, or your favorite side dish.
